The Toyota Rush is a mini SUV based on the Daihatsu Terios concept. Known as Bego in some countries, it has been marketed by both Toyota and Perodua under different nameplates. Launched in Pakistan in 2022, the second-generation Toyota Rush quickly gained popularity despite its high price. The seven-seater mini SUV is available in two variants: Toyota Rush G M/T and Toyota Rush G A/T.

Exterior

The Toyota Rush features a sharp and distinctive front fascia with LED headlamps, front fog lamps, and a bold chrome grille. The rear includes sleek LED combination lamps, a high-mount stop lamp, and a rear spoiler. Roof rails on top add to its practicality.

Interior

Inside, the Toyota Rush offers average-quality materials and limited legroom, especially in the front and third rows. The urethane-wrapped steering wheel includes audio controls, and the car features a push-start button, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, power windows, and a 7-inch touchscreen supporting various multimedia options.

Safety

Safety features include an anti-theft immobilizer, anti-lock braking system, vehicle stability control, hill-start assist, and multiple warning systems. The car is equipped with airbags and seat belts in all three rows.

Engine

The Toyota Rush is powered by a 1.5-liter DOHC 16-valve inline-4 engine, producing 77 kW at 6,000 rpm and 136 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. It comes in two variants: a 5-speed manual transmission (G M/T) and a 4-speed automatic transmission (G A/T).

Ride & Handling

The Toyota Rush offers easy handling, making it suitable for city commutes and family trips. However, its acceleration is underpowered, and its hill-assist feature is not very effective. It performs best within city limits rather than on high-speed adventures.

Maintenance

Maintaining the Toyota Rush can be expensive, with costly parts that are not widely available in Pakistan.

Competitors

The Toyota Rush competes with the Honda Vezel, Kia Sportage, and Hyundai Tucson. The Vezel offers better engine performance and cruise control, while the Sportage provides more features and better performance at a lower price. The Tucson excels in fuel economy and driver-assist features, making it a strong rival.
